Brief of Speaker:
　　 Prof. Xiaodong Michael Shi graduated from Nankai University in 1994 and received his MS degree in 1997. Subsequently He moved to the University of Maryland where he received his PhD in Chemistry in 2002. In the years 2002–2005 he worked as a postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of California, Berkeley. He joined the faculty at the Department of Chemistry, West Virginia University in 2005 and achieved the rank of Associate Professor in 2011. For his achievements in chemical research, Prof. Shi received NSF Career award, Outstanding Faculty Award from West Virginia University, Outstanding Research Assistant Awards from University of Maryland. He has published 54 SCI papers since 2007 from Independent career.
